Nintendo does it again
Perfect addition to the DS line. Lighter and slightly smaller than the 3DSXL, but with almost the same screen and quality. The only thing you miss out on is the 3D portion, which wasn't all that great anyway,. The benefit of this new one is the fact that it will play the new SNES game from the e-Ship (Virtual Console) Same Nintendo quality, very reasonable price - especially with the latest price drop. Plays all DS and 3DS game and has access to the eShop. Can't go wrong with this thing

Nintendo's best handheld yet!
The New 2DS XL is a success in just about every way, and I would go as far as calling it the definitive version of Nintendo's handheld for those who can do without support for 3D. Outside the lack of 3D the console sports a sleeker, and lighter design compared to that of the New 3DS XL, while offering the same large, and beautiful screens. Here's a quick break down of the Pros and Cons! Pros: A smaller, and lighter footprint making it even more ideal for taking your adventures alongside you Offers the same faster processor found in the New 3DS XL for a zippier all around experience, and support for a wider range of games Screens are over 80% larger compared to the original 2DS Now supports micro SD cards with no need to remove the back cover, as the most recent iteration of the 3DS required. They have also provided a port cover which offers a nice visual continuity for both the game cartridge, and micro sd slots New c stick, and back triggers for expanded control options Feels well made, and sits at a fair price point Charger comes included ------ Cons: Included stylus is incredibly small Bottom speaker placement not ideal, and it may be possible to muffle the sound depending on how you hold the system, of course headphones are also still an option for those wanting the best possible audio experience Game images, and pictures can only be viewed in 2D, but whether this is actually seen as a con is entirely subjective as many do not feel they need the feature anyways ------ So thats about it for the ups and downs if you may be considering a purchase, I love mine and look forward to enjoying gaming on it in the near future! The new two-tone design offers a subtle, and clean sense of style which has left me very pleased with my investment, and if you are a fan of Nintendo, and handheld gaming in general I think you will be too =)

A huge improvement over the previous 2DS! Many are going to want this over the 3DS XL.
My kids got 2DS systems for Christmas 2 years ago. I got my son the Black Friday new 3DS last year, but I never gave it to him because I see conflicting info on whether 3D is good for younger kids' eyes. I know you can turn it off in parental controls, but it just never happened. So I sold that system on craigslist and got him this 2DS XL. He loves it. He thinks it's as good as my 3DSXL but cooler. All day he's been saying he can't believe that I gave him the good one while I'm still using the old one... I didn't get it on Amazon because Amazon wasn't selling it when I checked. After playing with it a bit myself, it holds better than my New 3DS XL. The New 3DS XL isn't that much heavier, but it's more top heavy (the top screen is heavier on the 3DS XL). The 2DS XL feels good in your hands and is easy for his 10 year old hands to hold. The screens are just as clear as my 3DSXL. They are still low resolution screens just like all the 3DS/2DS systems. Because the XL systems are bigger screens, the low resolution does look more blocky on an XL size vs the smaller 2DS/3DS systems. Since I play so many portable games on my 720p Switch now, it's even more apparent. It's not a big deal and the games are more than playable, but if you're new to 2DS/3DS it will be one of the first things you notice. The only thing worse than my New 3DS XL is that the sound isn't as loud or as good. I'm a parent, so I'm not really complaining that it doesn't get louder. But if you're an adult, you'll want to know that. One really awesome improvement is that the SD card and game cartridge is under a flap. It's easy to switch either, but you're not going to lose them. We were going through an airport with my kids all holding their 2DS systems as we went. All of a sudden a Pokemon cartridge shot out of my daughter's 2DS! There were a few times we almost lost cartridges out of 2DS systems! It may seem like a small thing, but I think the cover over the slots is a big deal. The buttons are clicky and perfect. The size is great. I love that the screens are protected in the clampshell. We did get screen protectors for both screens. The hinge feels pretty sturdy so it should live up to my son's use unless he abuses it. I'm really happy with it and he's super excited. He's been playing Pokemon Moon all day on it and he says it's faster than his 2DS. (Not all games are faster on the New 3DS/2DS, but Moon is--thanks for your comment Azazel!) I think the Switch is going to take over as both Nintendo's portable and console system and I'm really happy with that because it is a much better system (HD, better games, etc). But there are still tons of great 3DS/2DS games out and coming. I think this is perfect for my son for now. We're really happy with it, and I do suggest it!

Great system, with a few small flaws.
Lot's of pros and a few cons, but the cons aren't deal breakers. The system is fast and downloads are quick, the lack of the 3D feature isn't even missed. I love the E-shop feature, I just wish Nintendo partnered with better indie game designers as the indie games are not high quality. The few nit-picky cons are the sound quality isn't top notch, he stylus is not meant for average sized human hands (it's super tiny) and the top portion of the clam shell design is a bit wobbly and moves on its own if you were to move the system. I've bought two and both are the same in this aspect, which is odd for a portable system and something designed for the younger crowd. It's nice and large, about the size of a very thick check book but still remains pocket-sized and fits in the pocket of average mens pants, which is great.

Worth it!
Got it today i loved it!!! I also bought a tempered glass screen for the system to protect it totally worth it. The system is super light compare it to the new 3ds xl. The top screen feels wobbly but im an adult i can take care of it.

Feels great, good battery life
Once I saw this announced I knew I needed to upgrade from my old original 3DS to a bigger screen. I felt no need of the 3D capabilities and when Nintendo announced this new system I had to go with this updated 2DS XL option. Feels great, good battery life, plays all the games I have.

Beautiful and colorful Nintendo device
I bought this for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift, but I had it shipped over to my house first to have it packaged with the other gifts I was going to send as well. I did open it to inspect it, and I have to say, it looked absolutely fantastic! I have a New Nintendo 3DS XL and it honestly made me a little jealous of his new ds! I was worried at first of the color choices of the device, but when I looked in person it looks pleasant to the eyes and even has its own unique straight ridges on top of the outer ds and it felt nice in the hands and pleasant to run hands over them. For a 2DS it’s a very nice product and great for those that are fans of Nintendo! :)

2DS XLwith has all the features of the 3DS without the headache-inducing 3DS XL and a LOT less expensive to boot!
My husband got this for me for Christmas and I LOVE it! I'm not a big fan of 3D, so I was using a 2DS which has a smaller screen and there aren't many good covers for it. I really wanted to have a 3DS XL but I didn't think it was worth the high price. I'm very picky about paying too much for something if I don't really need it. Sure, one can turn off the 3D settings (which I would do immediately and never turn it back on) but why should I have to pay $200 more for a feature that I would never use? Nintendo must have heard my pleas because they came out with the 2DS with has all the features of the 3DS without the headache-inducing 3D and a LOT less expensive to boot! I've been playing games on this and loving the larger screen and the ability to put the system into sleep mode simply by closing the lid. The only thing I wish it had was the stylus setup that the old regular 2DS has - longer stylus with easy side access for the stylus. This new 2DS XL has a much shorter stylus on the front bottom that isn't as easy to grab and use quickly. Overall, I love this system and would recommend it to anyone.

Bought it used using Amazon Prime 2 day Shipping
Top part is console review. Bottom part is who the seller I bought it from "USED" Console review: Amazing New 2DS XL. Without the 3D feature, it is still a great handheld. For those who hate the 3D feature that the 3DS and New 3DS has, get a 2DS or New 2DS. It is the same as New 3DS without the 3D. The extra button that it have with the C-Stick, it is great for New 3DS/2DS exclusive games. The XL is large enough for players who want a bigger screen. Down side is that the C-Stick on both New 3DS/2DS and the XL version has is that you don't have much freedom on playing around with it. The game I try it out on was Fire Emblem Warrior which use it to move the camera around. Not much freedom to move it around and wish it have freeplay movement on it to make it feel like you are really using the C-Stick like the GameCube has. Seller that I bought it from: I bought it used for $119.99 that have Amazon Prime. It say "used - acceptable" and was worry but I bought it anyway. When it come in, I was glad that it was in a great condition. Come with charger for the New 2DS XL that is wrap perfectly in the package along side with the New 2DS XL. The seller was: The-Open-Box I'll give it an A++ on amazing package

Perfect way to access the entire DS ecosystem without 3D
I had was a DS Lite back in the day, on which I played probably more of the available catalog (NDS and GBA) than I have on any other console. After a couple years it ended up in a drawer, and eventually I gave it to a friend whose DS had broken. I felt I'd gotten more than my money's worth on the system and I'd moved on to other things. I skipped the entire 3DS generation - I'm one of those people who gets sick if I watch a 3D movie for too long, so as the 3D effect was an early driver of the system, I just passed. When the 2DS came out I was interested - the form factor looked nice to play - despite loving the DS Lite I wasn't 100% a fan of the clam shell design, but I also didn't like that it wasn't going to fit into my pockets. Couldn't have it both ways. When the New 2DS XL was announced, it was the first time in a long time that I wanted a new console on day one. Normally I wait a long while before picking up a new system, waiting for reviews, etc, to see if the platform has a future that excites me. But as we're probably getting closer to the end of the 3DS era, I looked at it from a different perspective, looking back at ecosystem already available. I've recently begun getting back into portable consoles, and I like having access to as many generations as possible. I'd sold my GBA when I bought the DS Lite back in the day, but I was craving some classic Game Boy action, so I splurged on a custom, backlit modded, GBA so I could play GB/GBC/GBA games from my childhood. I've been steadily collecting and playing though all of the games that I didn't get to as a kid. What sold me on the New 2DS XL was perfect combination of ecosystem and hardware. I love the look and feel of it. I like that it's thinner than normal 3DSs. I love that I'm not wasting any power on the 3D I'll never use. Most importantly, I love having a single device that bridges the entire ecosystem of portable Nintendo games post Game Boy. DS/DSi/3DS/N3DS - I have access to all of them. There aren't a lot of games that need or are enhanced by the "New" processor, but I like not having to sacrifice that along with the 3D. I go back and forth on the screen size - sometimes I'm very grateful for the XL, sometimes I wish the system could be a little more pocketable like my GBA. I also don't like that the battery isn't easily replaceable - as I'm planning on having just one system, and playing from a large backcatalog over a long time, I accept that I'm probably going to have to replace the battery a few years from now. In fact, the only thing that stopped me from literally buying the console on day one was my wait for a teardown video to see what replacing the battery would look like. It looks like a little hassle, but easily in my comfort zone. Ultimately, I've never owned an NES, SNES, or N64 - but I love that I still have access to ports of their best games via my GBA and now my 2DS. I love that I can finally go back and replay some of the DS games I enjoyed, and also try the games I passed the first time around. I'm also really loving the 3DS catalog - I'm buying everything digital because these days I avoid carts if I can - and I find it very hard to not take advantage of the sales and rewards in the eShop to build up my 3DS library. I'm not sure about the value to people who are already invested in the 3DS ecosystem and already have a console - but for me, the New 2DS XL is perfect.
